Meet the Dean

Michael J. Malloy
A husband, father, healthcare provider, and educator, Dr. Michael Malloy serves as the founding Dean of the School of Pharmacy. “Pharmacists care for entire communities,” Dr. Malloy said. “And at William Carey, I have the opportunity to work with compassionate, capable students and prepare them for rewarding lifelong careers in pharmacy.”

Dr. Malloy received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and later received a BS in Pharmacy at University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He then went on to earn a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Buffalo in New York. He then completed a two year cardiology at the University of Florida.

Dr. Malloy began his pharmacy career at Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada, as an assistant professor. Dr. Malloy then took a position at the Auburn University School of Pharmacy, where he became a tenured Associate Professor and had a practice site at East Alabama Medical Center, where his focus was Cardiovascular Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Malloy was a member of the internal medicine department at East Alabama Medical Center.

At William Carey, Dr. Malloy mentors students, works with faculty and staff, and advocates for the School of Pharmacy as a whole. He and his wife, Leffi, have been married for nearly four decades and have two wonderful children, Rhynn and Dylan.
