Doctor of Pharmacy
The Called To CAREy pre-Pharmacy program allows aspiring pharmacists to fast-track their doctorate degree by completing 2 years of bachelor-level study at their chosen community college and 1 year at Carey before entering the PharmD program. Carey’s Pharmacy program also features an accelerated completion plan alongside clinical and experiential learning modules, as well as a dedicated, qualified faculty committed to your success. At Carey, pharmacy students can earn their degree and answer their callings faster than ever.
General Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Participation in the Called to CAREy pre-Pharmacy program will ensure that prospective students meet all of the following requirements for Carey’s Doctor of Pharmacy program:

Complete all prerequisite courses from a regionally accredited US college or university or an English-speaking Canadian college or university with a grade of C- or higher. In addition, no science lab courses will be accepted utilizing an online classroom format.

Highly competitive applicants should have prerequisites completed within 7 years of the relevant application cycle. The admissions committee reserves the right to extend the period beyond 7 years on a case-by-case basis.

All prerequisites must be completed by end of the spring term immediately preceding matriculation into the School of Pharmacy, unless informed otherwise by the admissions office. Dual enrollment precludes admission into the School of Pharmacy; all course work must be completed prior to the first day of class.

Have a preferred overall GPA or 3.0 or higher, with a preferred science and math GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Bachelors degree preferred but not required.

Doctor of Physical Therapy
The Called To CAREy pre-Physical Therapy program allows aspiring physical therapists to fast-track their doctorate degree by completing 2 years of bachelor-level study at their chosen community college and 1 year at Carey before entering the DPT program. Carey’s Physical Therapy program is designed to create a challenging and caring academic community that prepares students to become compassionate and competent entry-level physical therapists who value excellence in practice, service to low-resource populations, and engagement in global health and wellness.
General Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Participation in the Called to CAREy pre-PT program will ensure that prospective students meet all of the following requirements for Carey’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program:

Complete all sections of the PTCAS application by using Institutional Code 7400. Be sure to submit official GRE scores (within last 10 years) for verbal, analytical and written. Minimum score of 290 required (Quantitative and Verbal). However, the Admissions Committee reserves the right to consider and accept students not meeting minimum requirements who demonstrate excellence in related area. No documents should be sent directly to William Carey University.

Completion of baccalaureate degree (applicant’s choice) from an accredited college or university OR be in the senior year of undergraduate study.

Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 OR on the last 60 hours of graduate/undergraduate coursework. All prerequisites must be course work from regionally accredited U.S. colleges/universities or English-speaking Canadian colleges/universities. In addition, no science lab courses will be accepted utilizing an online classroom format.

All prerequisites must be completed by end of the spring term immediately preceding matriculation into the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, unless informed otherwise by the admissions office. No more than 2 course prerequisites may be outstanding by the beginning of the Spring term of the year of the application cycle. Dual enrollment precludes admission into the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program; all course work must be completed prior to the first day of class.

Complete 20 hours of observation under a physical therapist in two distinctly different settings (paid hours or intern hours required for academic credit cannot be used). Must be verified and submitted electronically to PTCAS. Note: this requirement has been waived for the 2022/2023 application cycle secondary to COVID restrictions.

William Carey University DPT program does not require an interview as part of the admission process. Prospective students are encouraged to schedule campus visits and attend DPT2B interest meeting to learn more about the program. Nursing RN to BSN
The Called to CAREy RN to BSN dual-enrollment program allows students seeking an advanced career in nursing to fast-track their studies by beginning the Carey RN to BSN program online while completing the ADN at their chosen community college. Carey’s RN to BSN program equips RNs with the tools necessary to stay current in the ever-evolving healthcare field, make clinical and operational decisions based on evidence-based practice, and prepare for their graduate nursing studies.
General Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Participation in the Called to CAREy RN to BSN program will ensure that prospective students meet all of the following requirements for Carey’s RN to BSN program:

Be enrolled in a nationally accredited associate degree or diploma program in the final two semesters/terms of the program

Complete application for general admission to William Carey University and pay all necessary fees, along with submission of all supporting documents required by the University.

Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better on all courses taken toward meeting the nursing degree requirements. A grade average of “C” or better is required in each pre/co-requisite course

Be compliant with all health status requirements
Submit a 10-panel drug screen with “Negative”

Submit a notarized healthcare criminal background check

Be compliant with all Castelbranch requirements

Meet any additional requirements specified for their program of interest (see programs for more info)

Health Information Management
The Called to CAREy HIM program is entirely online and attracts diverse learners who desire to open career opportunities through higher education. Our dedicated HIM faculty strive to see our students grow each semester through the curriculum, building upon their HIM skills and knowledge as a strong foundation for their new career path in HIM.
General Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Participation in the Called to CAREy Health Information Management program will ensure that prospective students meet all of the following requirements for Carey’s HIM program:

Complete application for general admission to William Carey University and pay all necessary fees, along with submission of all supporting documents required by the University.

Have a minimum GPA of 2.6.

Submit a completed HIM program application.

Complete an unofficial transcript evaluation with the HIM program director

Meet all prerequisite course requirements with a C or better in each course (list of required prerequisite courses can be provided by program director).

Provide evidence of a clear criminal background check and negative drug screen.

Provide evidence of immunization compliance and history of physical examination prior to professional practice experience.

Health Administration & Education
The Called to CAREy Health Administration & Education dual-enrollment program allows students seeking unique non-practitioner careers in the healthcare field to fast-track their degree by beginning the Carey HAE program online while completing their associate-level studies at their chosen community college. Carey’s HAE program prepares students to educate entry-level practitioners as well as function as leaders and managers in a variety of health-related areas including hospitals, outpatient clinics, government and volunteer agencies, businesses, and industry.
General Applicant Prerequisites & Requirements
Participation in the Called to CAREy Health Administration & Education program will ensure that prospective students meet all of the following requirements for Carey’s HAE program:

Complete application for general admission to William Carey University and pay all necessary fees, along with submission of all supporting documents required by the University.

Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better on all courses taken toward meeting the HAE degree requirements. A grade of C or better is required in each pre/co-requisite course.

Be compliant with all health status requirements

Submit a 10-panel drug screen with “Negative”

Submit a notarized healthcare criminal background check

Be compliant with all Castlebranch requirements

Hold an associate degree in a health-related field, be registered or licensed in a health-related field, be certified, OR have an associate’s equivalent in a non-health field.
